"Sea Shadow" is the
second feature film by director Nawaf Al-Janahi.
Set in a small seaside neighborhood in
Ras Al-Khaimah, the film follows Emirati 16 year-olds Mansoor and
Kaltham as they struggle with traditions and conventions on their
journey towards adulthood. Bound by family and deeply rooted values,
the pair must find the courage to forge their paths.
The
film is fully produced by Image Nation Abu Dhabi, and distributed in the Arab
region by Empire International, while international sales are
handled by Fortissimo Films.
After a successful world premiere in Abu Dhabi Film Festival (2011), the
film opened in theaters across the Arabian Gulf on 17 November 2011.
Competing with Hollywood blockbusters, the film had a unique wide
attendance, reaching the 2nd place in the top 5 movies in UAE, the
biggest cinema market in the Arab world. Later, the film went on a
global tour to over 20 countries, the most remarkable tour for an
Emirati feature film to date.
